Ron DeSantis: I have won tough battles, and I'm running for you to do the same for America

As my family and I have traveled to all 99 counties over the past eight months, it’s become abundantly clear that Iowans know America is in decline. Under Joe Biden’s watch, the American people are less safe in their communities, less prosperous, and less confident about the future of our nation. From the crisis at our southern border and Biden’s weakness abroad to the crippling inflation that has too many families struggling to make ends meet, Joe Biden has put our country on the path to ruin.

But the Iowans I talk to also have hope for new leadership in America. They are longing for someone who will stop simply managing our decline from one administration to the next and reverse it once and for all.

They know that our nation’s revival starts with returning our government back to "We the People" and that getting the country back on track is going to take a president who doesn’t cave to the left, the media, the big donors or the establishment. It will take a president who knows how to fight, has a record of winning tough battles, and can lead the Great American Comeback. As a former Navy officer, I’m tired of the excuses — it’s time to get the job done. That’s what I’ve done in Florida, and that’s what I’ll do as your next commander-in-chief.

In the Sunshine State, we got government out of the way to create the best economy in the nation. We broke the back of the teachers’ union and implemented universal school choice. We refused to bend the knee to Faucism and kept Florida free during the pandemic. We removed Soros-backed local prosecutors from their posts to keep families safe. And we didn’t back down when big business sought to target our values.

I kept every single one of the promises I made as governor — and did it in a swing state that we won by nearly 20 points in 2022.

Iowans know how important 2024 is to the future of our country. We won’t get a mulligan on this one. As a dad to three young kids, I’m running for president and asking for your vote to ensure they get to grow up and live in a country where the American Dream is alive and well.

Register exclusive: Caucus candidates make their final pitch to Iowans before Jan. 15

As president, on Day One, I’ll declare a national emergency and send troops to secure our southern border once and for all. I will also build the wall — not just talk about it.

A DeSantis administration will unleash American energy, beat the Chinese Communist Party, and restore our military to the finest fighting force in the world. We’ll cut government regulations and red tape, bring the U.S. Department of Agriculture headquarters to Iowa, and rein in the out-of-control federal spending that is causing inflation.

We will be able to achieve these tough tasks together because I will never back down, and my presidency will always be guided by what is best for the people whom I take an oath to serve. I’m not running to solve my personal issues, and I’m not running to promote the interests of my donors — I’m running for you.

I’m humbly asking for your support on caucus night, Jan. 15, so we can reverse this country’s decline and renew America.
