Ron Paydo is new Huntington Akron/Canton market president, replacing Nick Browning
The Akron/Canton region of Huntington Bank has a new market president.
Ron Paydo, who has been with Huntington Bank for more than 35 years and most recently was the business banking group director and community president for Medina, has been named to the post.
He replaces Nick Browning, a 31-year Huntington veteran, who retired at the end of April. Browning was most recently the bank's Mahoning Valley/Akron/Canton region president. He was also Akron region president for Huntington and its predecessor, the former FirstMerit Bank, since 2003. Browning declined to comment.
Paydo began his new role as market president for the Akron/Canton area on May 1.
“Ron has been a tremendous leader at Huntington. We are thrilled to have him oversee the Akron/Canton market in this new role,” said Brant Standridge, president of consumer and regional banking at Huntington. “I am confident that Ron will drive growth while continuing to demonstrate our unwavering commitment to customer service and our local communities.”
In his new role, Paydo will be engaged in development across all business segments, the bank said in a press release. He will also lead the implementation of Huntington’s Community Plan within the market and serve as president of the Huntington-Akron Foundation.
An Ohio native, Paydo sits on many area boards, including the Greater Medina Chamber of Commerce, Salvation Army of Wadsworth, American Red Cross Northern Ohio Region, United Way of Summit and Medina, the Great Trail Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and Cleveland Clinic-Medina Hospital. Paydo and his wife have also served as foster parents for more than 160 children in Summit and Medina counties.
“It has been an honor to serve customers and the community across various roles at Huntington. I am excited to lead the Akron/Canton market as we continue to fulfill the bank’s mission of looking out for people in our community,” said Paydo.
