The family of Indianapolis comedian Ron Sexton, best known for his down-home character "Donnie Baker" on "The Bob & Tom Show," have issued a public statement following Sexton's unexpected death last week while touring in Ohio.

Sexton died Friday, July 21. The cause remains unknown. He was 52.

Family says 'The Bob & Tom Show' star was 'loving husband, father, son, friend, and coach.'

Late Tuesday evening, Tracey Sexton, his wife, issued this statement to IndyStar:

"Though his talent was unparalleled, Ron was so much more than Donnie Baker. He was a loving husband, father, son, friend, and coach. We know he is at peace and are proud that he will continue to make people around the world laugh forever. We appreciate all of the love and support. — Tracey, Eric, Abigail, Alex, and Aliah"

An Indianapolis native, Sexton was a longtime comedy and baseball lover. He attended Franklin Central High School, where he worked at the school’s radio station as a baseball commentator.

In 2005, Sexton performed as "Donnie Baker" on the "The Bob & Tom Show," voicing other characters like Floyd the Trucker and Kenny Tarmac. He delighted fans with celebrity impressions and made "many, many people happy during his more than 20 years on the 'The Bob & Tom Show'," wrote show host Tom Griswold last week in a Facebook post, which has garnered more than 10 thousand reactions and more than 2,500 shares.
