Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute names David V. Trulio as its new CEO

The former managing editor of Fox News Digital has been named president and CEO of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute.
Officials announced Wednesday David V. Trulio, who also has worked in aerospace, defense and government, will lead the nonprofit foundation that raises funds for the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley. He succeeds John Heubusch who is retiring after 14 years of leading the foundation.
“John’s leadership has brought the foundation to new levels, and he will be deeply missed,” said Frederick J. Ryan Jr., chairman of the foundation’s board, in a news release. “We are grateful for his service and wish him much success in this next chapter of his life.”

Trulio will begin on April 3. He is charged with guiding a planned expansion of the foundation and institute’s digital offerings, revenue streams and brand. He most recently worked as managing editor and head of strategy and editorial operations at Fox News Digital. The platform operates FoxNews.com and FoxBusiness.com websites and averaged 82.7 million multi-platform unique visitors in 2022.
“With David at the helm, we look forward to propelling the Reagan Foundation and Institute into a new digital age and expanding our reach to those Americans who are unable to visit Simi Valley,” Ryan said. “David is the perfect person to lead this important initiative and guide us into a new era of growth.”
Trulio also has worked at the federal agency, Export-Import Bank of the United States as counselor to the chairman and senior vice president for the program on China and transformational exports. At the U.S. Department of Defense, Trulio served as chief of staff to the undersecretary of defense for policy. He has also been employed as a vice president at Lockheed Martin International and at Raytheon Company.
Earlier in his career, Trulio was appointed by President George W. Bush to be a special assistant to the president and the executive secretary of the Homeland Security Council at the White House. Prior to his government service, Trulio practiced corporate transactional law in Los Angeles.
Trulio, who is relocating to Southern California from Northern Virginia, said he was honored to lead the foundation.
“Ronald Reagan is the greatest president of the 20th century. Especially in challenging times, one cannot overstate the importance to America – and the world – of securing and advancing Ronald Reagan’s legacy, his timeless principles and his elevating leadership example,” he said in a news release.
