MANITOWOC - Wisconsin Singers, the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s premier Broadway-caliber touring production, is taking the stage for its 55th season show, "Something’s Coming!"

The group features captivating vocals, stunning choreography, the beloved eight-piece Wisconsin Singers band, and the ever-contagious Badger spirit.

The performance will premiere at Roncalli High School for one afternoon only, at 3 p.m. April 2.

"Something’s Coming!" celebrates the anticipation of life’s biggest moments and encourages audiences of all ages to find a reason to dance, discover something they love and hold on to what they believe in.

Enjoy the thrill of live music with decades of American pop, jazz, rock and Broadway hits in 90 minutes of non-stop energy.

“The Wisconsin Singers is a fun, jam-packed event that’ll have music for everyone," said Parker Von Haden, fourth-year trumpet player and assistant music director. "It’s high energy and sure to get you grooving, and just wait till you hear those band features!”

Covering more than 40 songs in their fast-paced show, the Wisconsin Singers highlight some of the music industry’s greatest artists like Prince and Katy Perry, as well as blockbuster movies like “Footloose” and Disney’s “Encanto.”

The ensemble will win your heart with award-winning Broadway showstoppers from musicals such as “West Side Story” and “Moulin Rouge.”

Badgers fans will bring the house down as they sing along to Fifth Quarter classics like “On, Wisconsin!,” “Varsity,” and, of course, “Jump Around.”

To cap off the production, the celebrated Wisconsin Singers’ band showcases its special blend of jazz, funk and classic rock.

The talents of Roncalli Middle School  and Treehouse Theater will open the show with must-see performances from local youth.

Katarina Wickman, fourth-year singer/dancer and social media manager for the Wisconsin Singers, said: “Being able to teach and perform with students all around the Midwest in our workshops is the most rewarding part of being in Singers for me. Showing students that they’re capable of anything they set their minds to is so important, especially when it comes to music. Many of us current Singers were once in their shoes, working our way through a Singers workshop, and without those memories and experiences, we wouldn’t be where we are on stage today. Being able to work with and inspire future musicians at every show is so special and important in order to keep music alive.”

The Roncalli Middle School theater program will be highlighted during the opening performances of the Wisconsin Singers show. The program is open to all students in fifth through eighth grades. This year, Roncalli Middle School had 75 students involved in the production of “Willy Wonka JR.,” a shortened one-hour version of the Broadway show, “Willy Wonka.”

Dan Berres, choir director, said: “Roncalli Middle School is really looking forward to bringing the Wisconsin Singers back to Manitowoc. This is a wonderful experience for our students to learn more about the performing arts and to see how music and theater can provide lifelong opportunities for everyone."

Now in its 11th season, Treehouse Theater is rehearsing with 60 students, ages 9-18, for upcoming performances of “Shrek JR.” coming up April 20-23 at the Capitol Civic Centre. Audience members of the Wisconsin Singers performance will enjoy the Treehouse cast presenting highlights from “SHREK JR.,” including Fiona and Shrek singing “I Think I Got You Beat” and the full cast performing the song, “Freak Flag.”

“Treehouse Theater takes great pride in our reputation of exceeding audience expectations for a youth musical production,” said Karen Rohrer, executive director. “We have become a quality ‘feeder’ program for arts programs at local private and public schools, as well as colleges.”

Tickets for the April 2 performance are available at www.wisconsinsingers.com/manitowoc or by calling 608-886-6801. Admission prices are $15 for adults and $10 for students/seniors.
