The roof of a South Loop building caught on fire, extending to its upper floor Saturday afternoon, according to the Chicago fire department.
An extra-alarm response was called before 5:30 p.m. to the fire at 1545 S. State St., the fire department said. No injuries were reported.
The fire was out by 5:55 p.m., the department said. Some residents were evaluated at the scene but no one was transported.
The building was once an old construction warehouse and home to Siegel-Cooper Company, the fire department said. It is a heavy timber building, but is now fully equipped with sprinklers.
