'The Rookie' Star Eric Winter Dropped Shocking Season 6 News and Fans Can't Believe It

Sound the alarms, The Rookie fans. Eric Winter's prediction came true and now, it's time to celebrate.

After sharing that he was "really confident" about a new installment of the show coming to ABC, he excitedly announced that the network renewed the procedural drama for season 6. In a new post added to the actor's Instagram, a video montage played some heartwarming moments from season 5 with the message, "The Rookie will be back for season 6!"

"Letssss go!!!! Season 6!!!👮♂️," he captioned the short clip on April 17. "Could not be happier with the news we got today!! @therookieabc fans get ready! We are coming in 🔥🔥🔥. Congrats to our entire cast and crew! We love what we do. @alexihawley @abcnetwork @eone_tv thank you for making this show possible!"

Given how the season 5 finale is set to air on May 2, The Rookie fans immediately reacted to Eric's eye-opening update. It didn't take long before they all started congratulated the Wildfire alum in the comments section on Instagram.

"YESSSSS Eric congrats!!!!! I’m so beyond thrilled for all of you and can’t wait for more episodes🔥," one person wrote. "Yesssss!! So happy for you guys but mainly for me because I’m obsessed with this show! 😂🫶," a different user exclaimed. "Best news ever I literally screamed I’m so happy @ebwinter can’t wait to see the rest of season 5 @therookieabc," another follower responded.

What's more, Eric also alluded to where his character Tim Bradford stands, using the hashtags "#therookie," "#season6" and "#bradford."

As fans may know, some were worried that the sergeant was going to be killed off after a heart-pumping preview circulated online. Thankfully, it wasn't actually Tim laying on the floor but his look-alike Jake Butler (also played by Eric), who went on another crime spree.

Now, that The Rookie (and subsequently, Eric)'s future is secured another season, are there any clues on what to expect? As of right now, there's nothing to share about new storylines potentially popping up.

But as Deadline reported, the series will air its 100th episode next season. So should anything monumental occur (perhaps, maybe something to do with Tim and Lucy [Melissa O'Neil], a.k.a. Chenford), it will most likely be geared toward then.
