One of the best players to never win the Memorial Tournament and one of the best current players never to win a major have committed to play Jack Nicklaus’ PGA Tour event June 2-5 at Muirfield Village Golf Club.

The addition of four-time major championship winner Rory McIlroy and 2013 Memorial winner Matt Kuchar to the field so far gives the Memorial five of the top 10 players in the world.

McIlroy, ranked No. 7, has four top 10s at Muirfield Village but has never finished higher than a tie for fourth (2016). The 33-year-old has four top 10s in seven starts this season, including runner-up to Scottie Scheffler at the Masters.

Kuchar, 43, has nine PGA Tour wins and has played on five Ryder Cups, but still is in search of his first major championship. The closest he has come was finishing runner-up to Jordan Spieth at the 2017 Open Championship.

Also committing Tuesday was 27-year-old Brit Matt Fitzpatrick, whose best Memorial finish was a third in 2020, and 41-year-old Brandt Snedeker, who has not played the Dublin event since 2013.
