Rosario Dawson adopts 12-year-old girl?

Rosario Dawson has reportedly adopted a 12-year-old girl.

The 'Sin City' actress - who was adopted by her stepfather Greg Dawson at the age of one - has become a new mother after adopting the soon-to-be teenager in October, the New York Post newspaper's PageSix reports.

The 35-year-old star - who previously dated 'Slumdog Millionaire' director Danny Boyle - has been open about her plans to adopt for years and has now gone ahead with the process despite being single.

She said in a 2008 magazine interview: "That idea has stayed in the back of my head, but lately, I've been thinking about it more."

Rosario revealed she wanted to have a child as soon as possible so that she could introduce them to their relatives.

She explained: "My mother and grandmother are extraordinary women, and they're getting older. It struck me recently that one day I might be sitting around with my children, going, 'Your grandma was an amazing woman, I really wish you could've known her'."

Meanwhile, the brunette beauty recently confessed that while she admires her mother, she never wanted to follow in her footsteps by becoming a mother at a young age.

She said previously: "I was an awkward teenager. I went stag to my prom. I was a virgin until I was 20-years-old.

"My mother was raising five kids on her own. I wasn't just going to sit back and be a horny teenager and continue some cycle of teenage pregnancy - I wanted more opportunities."
