Rosenberry Tuscarawas Foundation awards over $400K in grants

Several charitable organizations in Tuscarawas County have received grants totaling $410,062.55, awarded for 2022 by the Selection Committee of the Harold C. and Marjorie Q. Rosenberry Tuscarawas Foundation.

The late Harold C. Rosenberry of Dover established the charitable trust for the sole purpose of providing financial assistance to qualified charities in Tuscarawas County, according to a news release. Organizations receiving grants use the money to buy equipment and for capital improvements.

The Huntington National Bank serves as Trustee of the Foundation. The Foundation distributes grants semi-annually to organizations selected by the Trust’s Selection Committee, which is composed of leading citizens in the community.

The following organizations received Rosenberry gifts:

  • Alpine Hills Historical Society, $3,462; replace existing doors & windows at museum

  • American Red Cross Heartland, $5,000; INTERCEPT INT100 Illuminator blood machine

  • Big Brothers/Big Sisters of East Central Ohio $5,402.26; support technology advancements – computers

  • Claymont City Schools, $13,250; lighting for new tennis courts

  • Dover-New Phila Educational Broadcasting, Inc. $15,000; HVAC improvements for radio studio

  • Friends of Tuscarawas County, $10,000; development of two miles of the Ohio & Erie Canal Parks Towpath Trail

  • Kent State University Tuscarawas at $12,205.42; signage, benches, trash receptacles and bike racks for walking trail on campus

  • Mill Township $10,291.92; new 4-inch supply line and attack line for firetruck

  • RTY, Inc. $24,290; restoration of Ferris wheel at Tuscora Park

  • Tuscarawas County Humane Society, $10,000; building improvements

  • Tuscarawas Valley Local Schools, $10,000; stage equipment for new auditorium

  • Tuscarawas Valley Trojan Booster Club $10,000; pole vault mats and accompanying equipment

  • Village of Dennison Fire Department, $15,000; purchase four SCBA’s air packs

  • Village of Strasburg, $10,000; replacement of playground equipment at the city park

  • Buckeye Career Center, $15,000; Project Lead the Way Engineering Curriculum

  • Beneath the Shade, $29,000; purchase a van to transport clients

  • Dennison Railroad Museum, $10,400; replace air conditioner units in kids train car and library

  • Hospice of Tuscarawas County, $10,014; computers for hospice staff

  • Indian Valley Local Schools, $15,000; Project Lead the Way Engineering Curriculum

  • Mobile Meals of Dover/New Phila, $427, laptop computer

  • New Philadelphia City Schools, $15,000; Project Lead the Way Engineering Curriculum

  • Newcomerstown Exempted Schools, $6,560; purchase metal chairs and dollies for storage

  • Strasburg Band Boosters, $20,000; purchase new band instruments

  • Strasburg Fire Association, $42,360; replace generator at the fire building

  • Strasburg-Franklin Schools, $10,599.75; Project Lead the Way Engineering Curriculum

  • Tuscarawas Arts Partnership, $4,000; purchase office equipment

  • Tuscarawas County YMCA, $7,800; repair floor drains and tile around swimming pool

  • Tuscora Park Foundation $35,000; pickleball courts

  • Village of Dennison, $35,000; purchase streetscape items for downtown improvement project

The Harold C. and Marjorie Q. Rosenberry Tuscarawas Foundation has

distributed $8,929,791.76 since the Foundation began in 1994. Distributions are on a semi-annual basis.

Only organizations that qualify under section 501c (3) of the federal tax code will be eligible for funds.

Deadline for applications for the next distribution is Dec. 20, 2022 by email to office@hmrosenberry.org or by calling Charlene Rankin, grant administrator at 330-260-3948.

Grants from the next distribution in December will be awarded in February 2023.
