Rosendale man pleads guilty to manslaughter in 2019 shooting death of Kingston man

KINGSTON - A Rosendale man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the shooting death of a Kingston man four years ago.

Ulster County District Attorney David Clegg said Jacob Jackson, 24, of Rosendale, pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter, a felony, in the 2019 killing of Myron Moye, 36, of Kingston.

According to Clegg, Jackson was one of three men suspected of breaking into Moye's home on West O'Reilly Street at approximately 1 a.m. on Nov. 1, 2019, wearing masks and gloves.

Clegg said they tied up multiple occupants of the home, then killed Moye by shooting him before fleeing.

A resident called police around 2 a.m., reporting a possible homicide.

Moye was taken by ambulance to the Broadway campus of HealthAlliance Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A two-year investigation by Kingston city police identified Jackson as one of the suspects, along with Christopher Jackson, who is no relation to Jacob Jackson. Melik Davis, Jacob Jackson's half-brother, was identified as a co-conspirator and accomplice.

Jacob Jackson's co-defendants are awaiting trial.

Jacob Jackson faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in state prison. He is due back in court on Jan. 10.

His attorney, Glenn Kroll, said of the plea, "I thought it was a favorable deal. He was willing to accept it."
