Roseville motorcyclist, 22, killed in high-speed crash with SUV in Granite Bay, CHP says

A 22-year-old motorcyclist from Roseville was killed Monday in a high-speed crash with an SUV in Granite Bay, California Highway Patrol officials said.

The crash happened around 2:45 p.m. near Douglas Boulevard and Berg Street, the CHP’s Auburn office said in a news release.

A 2022 Honda motorcycle was traveling westbound on Douglas Boulevard when it collided with a 2009 Toyota SUV that was making a U-turn from eastbound Douglas to westbound Douglas, CHP officials said.

Witnesses told CHP investigators that the motorcycle was traveling in excess of 85 mph, according to the news release. The crash ejected the motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet.

Roseville Fire Department personnel pronounced the motorcyclist, described by the CHP as a 22-year-old Roseville man, dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV, a 61-year-old Fair Oaks woman, was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries, the CHP said.

The crash remains under investigation by the CHP, but alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors, according to the news release.

The motorcyclist’s identity will be released by Placer County coroner’s officials pending notification of family.
