Roseville restaurant Baldamar adds extravagant Saturday brunch experience

It’s not a joke: Starting April 1, swanky Roseville restaurant Baldamar is offering an unlimited Saturday brunch menu with endless mimosas, desserts and the hearty, meat-forward entrees they’re known for.

They’re calling it The Champagner, and for $90 a person plus taxes and a service charge, you’ll get a two-hour seating with access to the bottomless food and drink menu. And Baldamar, already known for its business lunch scene and its Sunday brunch (at least, according to the folks at OpenTable, who ranked it in the country’s top 100), seems to be pulling out all the stops.

They’ve got fancied-up versions of breakfast and brunch classics, from creme brulee French toast to biscuits and gravy. Where another menu might offer a corned beef hash, Baldamar presents smoked sea bass hash, with a poached egg and bacon fat-fried potatoes. The “Morning in Brussels” features Nueske’s bacon with a poached egg, fresno chilis, and a soy-lemongrass glaze.

And you can move right along into lunch, if you want: Also on the unlimited entree menu are French dip sliders, pancetta carbonara, pasta aglio e olio with seared scallops, and a London broil. You can also indulge in soups, salads, and starters like clam chowder, tomato carpaccio or smoked pork belly served with bourbon-soaked cherries. Extra add-ons are also available for purchase, like prime steaks with “bling” including seared scallops or crab legs, and more special glasses of wine and Champagne.

Oh, and there’s an unlimited dessert menu, too. Carrot cake, chocolate cheesecake, berries and cream, or — get this — a 15-layer buttermilk-and-Kahlua chocolate cake.

Their only request is that you finish a dish before ordering another, though they’ll let you work on three courses at a time.

Baldamar offers two seatings for The Champagner, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., every Saturday starting April 1. Each seating runs for two hours; last call for food and drinks is 15 minutes before the clock runs out.

You can make reservations online, but you have to specifically select The Champagner — a regular Saturday reservation is not the same as a reservation for the unlimited menu. Baldamar is still offering its regular menu on Saturdays, as well as a buffet-style brunch on Sundays.
