HBO Max Releases ‘Gomorrah’ Season 4 Trailer (TV News Roundup)
HBO Max released a trailer for Season 4 of “Gomorrah,” which launches on May 20.
The new season focuses on Genny, who, in order to protect his family, commits to legit business and tries to escape the world in which his father raised him.

Based on the book by Roberto Saviano, “Gomorrah” is executive produced by Riccardo Tozzi, Gina Gardini, Giovanni Stabilini, Marco Chimenz, Nils Hartman and Sonia Rovai. The series is developed by Saviano and Stefano Bises, alongside Leonardo Fasoli and Maddalena Ravagli, who also serve as writers with Enrico Audenino and Monica Zapelli. The fourth season is directed by Claudio Cupellini, Marco D’Amore, Enrico Rosati, Ciro Visco and Francesca Comencini, who is also the artistic supervisor.

PBS released a trailer for “Tulsa: The Fire and the Forgotten,” which premieres on May 31. Produced and directed by Jonathan Silvers, the documentary explores the 1921 Tulsa race massacre on its 100th anniversary, spotlighting anti-Black violence and Black resilience. The 90-minute film, narrated by Michel Martin and reported by DeNeen L. Brown, includes interviews with civil rights activists, lawyers, historians and Black community leaders. “Tulsa: The Fire and the Forgotten” is produced by Eric Stover and executive produced by Lesley Norman and Eugenia Harvey, with Stephen Segaller serving as executive-in-charge.
Netflix released a trailer for “High on the Hog: How African American Cuisine Transformed America.” Based on the book by Jessica B. Harris, the four-episode docuseries will take viewers from Africa to the American South, exploring how Black chefs, historians and activists are keeping centuries-old culinary traditions alive. Hosted by Stephen Satterfield, “High on the Hog: How African American Cuisine Transformed America” is directed by Roger Ross Williams, Jonathan Clasberry and Yoruba Richen. Shoshana Guy serves as series producer, and executive producers are Williams, Geoff Martz, Craig Piligian, Sarba Das, Fabienne Toback and Karis Jagger.

Apple TV Plus has ordered “Big Man on Campus,” a new docuseries that follows basketball phenom Makur Maker as he navigates freshman year of high school amid the Black Lives Matter movement and the Covid-19 pandemic. Seth Gordon directs and executive produces alongside Nikki Calabrese, Andrew Fried, Dane Lillegard, Sarina Roma and Jordan Wynn.
CASTING
Starz announced that Rosie O’Donnell will guest star on the upcoming comedy “Run the World,” which premieres on May 16 at 8:30 p.m. O’Donnell is set to play Dr. Nancy Josephson, a “brash, foul-mouthed therapist” that all four best friends discover they are all seeing. She is “a tough loving counselor that challenges the women to take ownership of their actions and acquire new tools for problem-solving.” “Run the World” follows a group of smart, funny and vibrant 30-something Black women who live in Harlem and are navigating career highs and lows, hookups and heartbreaks, which “cause them to re-evaluate who they are and where they are going.” The series stars Amber Stevens West as Whitney, Andrea Bordeaux as Ella, Bresha Webb as Renee, Corbin Reid as Sondi and Stephen Bishop as Matthew. “Run the World” was created, written and executive produced by Leigh Davenport, and Yvette Lee Bowser serves as showrunner for her Lionsgate TV-based SisterLee Productions.
The new Freeform comedy pilot “Everything’s Trash,” starring Phoebe Robinson, is also set to star Jordan Carlos, Toccarra Cash, Nneka Okafor and Moses Storm. The series, which follows a millennial podcast star navigating a messy adulthood as her younger brother emerges as a successful politician, will be directed by Chioke Nassor. “Everything’s Trash” is inspired by Robinson’s book “Everything’s Trash But It’s Okay.”

Little Dot Studios, a digital content agency and media network under the All3Media umbrella, has appointed John Holdridge to managing director. Previously, Holdridge served as Fullscreen’s general manager of brand services. Fullscreen’s James Norell and Jordan Benedict will also join Holdridge at Little Dot Studios as senior vice president of business operations and strategy and senior vice president of content development and creative strategy, respectively.
