Ross County Health District asks community to fill out survey

CHILLICOTHE— The Creating Healthy Communities (CHC) program, which is funded by the Ross County Health District, is asking for community input on the selection of 2023 healthy eating and active living projects. These projects aim to help reduce chronic disease in Ross County.

To get feedback from the community concerning project selection for next year the CHC asks that community members fill out the online survey that can be found on the Ross County Health District website under the CHC Program section. The survey must be completed by July 15.

The Ross County Health District (RCHD) is proud to be one of Ohio’s 22 counties to receive funding from 2020-2024 to locally support the CHC Program. This funding supports active living and healthful eating strategies that promote chronic disease prevention throughout the community. By implementing sustainable strategies, CHC helps improve access and affordability of healthful food, increase opportunities for physical activity, and assure tobacco-free living.

CHC has already implemented many strategies to help the community including: Ross County’s Active Transportation Plan, Paint Valley Local School District’s Elementary playground updates to include ADA accessibility ramps, Chillicothe Farmers Market Online Ordering System, Chillicothe and Ross County Public Library Book-a-Bike Program and the Chillicothe and Ross County Public Library edible orchard and community garden.

CHC’s current projects include expansion of the Chillicothe Farmers Market to the village of Bainbridge, development of Chillicothe’s Complete Streets policy and implementation of the Mt Logan Community Garden.

Those interested in learning more about the Creating Healthy Communities program or participating to make Ross County a healthier community are welcome to join the next coalition meeting on July 11 at 11 a.mn at the RCHD located at 150 East Second Street in Chillicothe.
