Ross Park Mall Restaurant Files For Bankruptcy

ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA — California Pizza Kitchen, a staple at Ross Park Mall for years, has filed for bankruptcy.

The pizza chain, founded in 1985, said that the Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing will help it "reduce its long-term debt load, and quickly emerge from bankruptcy as a much stronger company." The chain said it will close unprofitable locations but did not specify which ones will be shuttered.

"The unprecedented impact of COVID-19 on our operations certainly created additional challenges, but this agreement from our lenders demonstrates their commitment to CPK's viability as an ongoing business," Jim Hyatt, California Pizza Kitchen CEO, said in a release.

According to the chain's website, the future of the Ross Park Mall location does not appear to be good.

"Due to the onoing COVID-19 pandemic and related lease challenges with our landlords, we regret to inform you that we have closed this location until further notice," a message on the website stated.
