Rotary to host meet and greet for Belmont candidates

Belmont Rotary will soon hold a meet and greet with candidates for mayor and City Council.

The Belmont Belmont Rotary Club will host a candidates meet and greet on Thursday, Sept. 28, from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. at TechWorks Gaston, 52A Ervin St.

All 12 candidates for Belmont mayor and City Council have been invited, and all have confirmed their participation.

Time will be allowed for people to have one-on-one conversations with candidates and for candidates to make short presentations introducing themselves and providing information on their motivation for seeking office, their experience, their top objectives and other comments.

With the recent resignation of long-time Belmont Mayor Charlie Martin, four candidates are campaigning for mayor. They are Rick Jordan, Martha Stowe, Richard Turner and Amanda Wall.

Eight candidates are running for three seats on the Belmont City Council. They are George (Buck) Altice, Peg Argent, Barry Flynn, Jim Hefferan, Cynthia Hegler, Charlie Hill, Cory Miller and Jason P. Rumfelt.
