Round-Up: Zionsville Golf, Tennis, Boys Lacrosse have good performances; Eagle baseball fall to Flashes

The Zionsville golf team placed second on Thursday in the 'Big 4' match at Meridian Hills.

The Eagles shot a 292, with Westfield shooting a 287. Center Grove shot a 302 and Bishop Chatard had a 327.

Andrew Wall shot a career-best 68 to tie for medalist honors.

Adam Melliere had a 73, Kevin McGowan shot a 74, Bryce Conlee had a 77 and Gavin Poole shot a 78.

Zionsville Tennis

The Zionsville tennis team topped Brownsburg 4-1 on Thursday.

At No. 1 singles, Lucy King topped Caroline Allen 6-2, 6-2. At No. 2 singles, Brownsburg's Ava Allen topped Sudhi Murugesan 6-4, 5-7, 10-2 and at No. 3 singles, Natalie Black topped Emma Jones 6-0, 6-0.

At No. 1 doubles, Zoe Chappell/Ellery Walpole (Z) def. Emma Tranter/Ayla Lathorp (B) 6-3, 6-2 and at No. 2 doubles, Arya Patel/Shuyang Li (Z) defeated Maddie Campbell/Grace Dalton (B) 6-2 ,6-4.

Zionsville Baseball

The Zionsville baseball team lost to Franklin Central 4-3 in game two of their series on Thursday.

The Eagles struck first in the third inning, loading the bases with no outs and scoring on an error.

After a strike out, a bases-loaded walk to Grant Gilley plated a second run and Elliott Peter followed with an RBI-ground out to make it 3-0. But the Flashes came back in the bottom of the third, hitting three-straight singles with two outs to plate three runs.

The score remained tied until the seventh, when Franklin Central hit a walk-off single.

Zionsville managed just two hits in the game, coming from Max Bond and Jackson Tielker. They struck out 14 times in seven innings.

Chase Wagner took the loss, allowing four runs (three earned) in 6.1 innings, striking out six.

The Eagles travel to Guerin Catholic on Monday.

Boys Lacrosse

The Zionsville boys lacrosse team topped Guerin Catholic on Wednesday night by the score of 14-5.

Cade Taylor had five goals for the Eagles, with Will Sorg and Cooper Smitson each having three.

Max Gee, Oscar Mossbrugger and Von Weidner also scored for the Eagles, who are now 7-1 on the season.

Weidner added two assists, with Tyler Streepey and Smitson each having one. Griffin Howell had eight saves.
