Roundball Roundup: Science Hill, Gate City stay hot in district play

(WJHL) – A pair of squads on either side of the Tennessee-Virginia state line maintained their first-place status in their respective districts on Friday night.

In Blountville, the Hilltoppers pulled off a convincing road victory at West Ridge, 62-45.

Daniel Boone picked up a conference victory over Dobyns-Bennett in Gray, 67-58.

Sullivan East sprinted out to a big lead over Oak Hill Academy (Red) on a night where the Patriots retired Hunter Stratton’s baseball jersey. The Patriots held on for a 72-52 win.

The Gate City boys remained unbeaten in Mountain 7 District action, taking out John Battle, 52-40.

On the ladies’ side, West Ridge came out on the right end of a low-scoring affair with Science Hill, 39-33. Lexi Green led the Lady Toppers with 14 points in the loss.

In Virginia, Gate City kept its distance late to take down the Lady Trojans of John Battle, 48-39.
