Roundball Roundup: SHHS claims share of Big 4 title; Eagles top Blue Devils in OT

(WJHL) – As the regular season winds down, teams across Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia continued to fight for district seeding on Friday night.

In Johnson City, the Hilltoppers claimed a ninth-straight win, downing Dobyns-Bennett, 75-67. With the victory, Science Hill claimed at least a share of the Big 4 regular season championship.

The Wolves got a three-pointer from Sawyer Tate with just one second to spare, as West Ridge topped district foe Daniel Boone, 64-61.

In Hal Henard Gymnasium, the Greene Devils rolled past Grainger, 73-50.

From Lower Afton, Chuckey-Doak used a strong second quarter to take down cross-county foe and district rival, South Greene, 62-58.

In Southwest Virginia, Gate City remained the class of the Mountain 7 District with a tight win over Ridgeview, 59-54.

They needed overtime to settle things in Rye Cove, but the Eagles soared to victory against visiting Castlewood, 87-81.

In the ladies’ game, Cloudland remained undefeated with a dominant defensive performance at North Greene, 41-27.

The Lady Blazers blasted past district opponent, West Ridge, 74-46.

The Lady Wolfpack of Ridgeview went down to Gate City and snagged a win, as well, 51-40.
