Roundtop Mountain hosting 40th annual Special Olympics Pennsylvania skiing competition

LEWISBERRY, Pa. (WHTM) – Roundtop Mountain Resort will host the Special Olympics Pennsylvania Team Area M for their 40th annual ski racing competition on Jan. 25.

The event will start at 10 a.m. at the bottom of Fanny Hill where Team USA and Area M Advanced team member Ricky Eutzy Jr. will carry the torch down the slope. The flag will be carried by a member of this year’s Team USA, who is planning to compete in the 2025 World Games in Italy, and Area M Novice team member Jesse Rohrer.

The Special Olympics banner will be carried by members of the Intermediate team, Brittany Goss and Michael Schroeder. 2023 Alpine Athlete of the Year and Skills team member Samantha Brace will lead the Athlete’s Oath.

The main event will begin immediately following the ceremony where athletes will compete on modified slalom courses. The awards ceremony will start at 12:15 p.m.

The Special Olympics competition is open for spectators to attend.
