Here's a roundup of recents incidents and announcements from Ventura County agencies:

Heavy rain to be followed by bigger dose this week

The latest storm dumped rainfall averaging close to 1.75 inches across Ventura County with around twice that much on the way, forecasters say.

Totals exceeding 3.5 inches are forecast from 5 p.m. Monday to 11 p.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service said Sunday.

Rainfall could reach 4.26 inches in Ojai and nearby Santa Barbara, with 3.52 inches in Ventura and 3.68 inches forecast in Fillmore, forecasters said.

They advised residents to check social media and www.weather.gov/lox for the latest details because the forecast could change.

The new storm follows a soaking over two days ending at 6 a.m. Saturday.

Saticoy recorded the highest total among locations near the coast at 2.4 inches, followed by 1.94 inches at La Conchita, 1.78 inches at the National Weather Service station in Oxnard and 1.72 inches in Ventura. Farther inland, Thousand Oaks recorded 1.68 inches, Moorpark 1.57, Newbury Park 1.43 and Simi Valley 1.41.

Camarillo received 1.62 inches and CSU Channel Islands a little less at 1.42. In the Santa Clara River Valley, a total of 1.68 inches was posted for Santa Paula, 1.62 inches in Fillmore and 1.22 inches in Piru.

Rainfall reached 1.79 inches in Ojai and 2.36 inches at Matilija Canyon.

Driver arrested after hitting 3 parked cars in Santa Paula

A local resident was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run driving after striking three parked cars Sunday on the western edge of the city.

The man fled the scene after hitting the cars in the 100 block of Peck Road around 1 a.m., but was later apprehended, interim Police Chief Don Aguilar said.

No one was injured, he said.

Burglary thwarted in Simi Valley after residents confront suspect

A woman was caught and arrested Sunday after residents of the Simi Valley home she was attempting to enter confronted her, city police said.

Officers said the 20-year-old woman tried to break into a house in the 2600 block of Galindo Avenue around 4 a.m., but the occupants heard her as she tried to enter through a window.

The woman, who lives in Simi Valley, fled and was caught by officers while she was running away, according to the Simi Valley Police Department.

She was booked into jail on suspicion of felony burglary and was being held Sunday at the Todd Road Jail outside Santa Paula on $50,000 bail, according to jail records.
