Roundup: Granville girls basketball clinches LCL-Buckeye crown

The Granville girls basketball team raced out to a 20-2 lead after one quarter Wednesday and cruised to a 61-31 victory against visiting Utica to win their third consecutive Licking County League-Buckeye Division title, second outright.

Harper Annarino scored nine of her game-high 20 points in the first quarter. Aliyah Moore added 13 points and Ava Gossman 11, combining for five 3-pointers, and Taylor Warehime six for the Blue Aces (16-1, 11-0).

Delaney Kerstetter led Utica (7-11, 3-9) with 14 points. Abby Dickson added 10.

Watkins beats Lakewood

Watkins Memorial scored the first 15 points, shooting out to a 25-5 lead after one quarter in a 55-27 victory against visiting Lakewood in LCL play.

Cameryn Wheeler scored 13 of her game-high 22 points in that first quarter, burying four 3-pointers for the game, and totaling seven rebounds, three assists and four steals. Kalleigh Rennie added 11 points, including a trio of 3s, and Rilyn Warner and Ella Perry six points apiece for the Warriors (13-6, 8-4).

Grace Sturgell hit a trio of 3s, totaling nine points for the Lancers (5-12, 2-10), and Becca Streets hit a pair for six.

Heath wins on road

Caroline Robertson piled up 18 points to fuel Heath in a 50-37 victory at Licking Heights in LCL play.

Robertson hit a trio of 3-pointers, and Allie Dunlap added seven points for the Bulldogs (13-5, 9-3), who are tied with Newark Catholic for first place in the Cardinal Division.

Amya Thompson led the Hornets (3-14, 1-10) with 14 points. Karsyn Johnson added eight and Symaya McDougall six.

Sharp lifts Johnnies

Kylie Sharp hit two clinching free throws to seal Johnstown's 45-41 overtime victory at Licking Valley in LCL play.

Sharp totaled 20 points for the Johnnies (10-7, 8-4), who had a 10-6 edge in overtime after the Panthers tied the game with a 3-pointer late in regulation. Abigail Adkins added 15 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals as the Johnnies remain a game behind Heath and Newark Catholic in the Cardinal Division.

Cassie Orr and Avery Williams scored 11 points apiece for the Panthers (4-13, 3-8). Rylee Hillis added eight.

BOWLING

Lakewood sweeps Utica

Stewart Poulnott's 361 series Tuesday led the Lakewood boys to a victory against Utica, 1,756-1,452.

Vica Pletcher's 341 led the unbeaten Lakewood girls to victory against Utica, 1,617-1,096.
