Roundup: Klahowya, Crosspoint soccer reaches state semifinals; volleyball qualifies for state

The final week of the high school soccer season will see Klahowya's girls team and Crosspoint's boys team challenging for state trophies.

Two-time state champion Klahowya (18-0-1) punched its ticket to the 1A state semifinals with a 4-0 home win over Bellevue Christian on Friday. Junior Tori Peters and sophomore Ali Divano each scored two goals for the top-seeded Eagles, while freshman Amira Lyons added two assists. It was Klahowya's third win over Bellevue Christian this season. The Eagles, who won state titles in 1999 and 2014, previously beat the Vikings during Nisqually League play and again in the West Central District playoffs.

Klahowya plays No. 4 Seattle Academy in the semifinals Nov. 19 at 4 p.m. at Shoreline Stadium. No. 3 Deer Park and No. 7 Montesano play in the other semifinal.

Crosspoint (12-0-1) knocked off Mount Vernon Christian 1-0 on Saturday at Bremerton High School in the first round of the Class 2B/1B state tournament. Senior Thunderr Doty scored the game's lone goal in the first half.

Crosspoint, which is seeded No. 3, faces No. 2 seed Providence Classical Christian on Nov. 19 at 6 p.m. at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner. The Warriors won a state title in 2017. Doty and fellow seniors Levi Abrams and Ethan Walters played as eighth-graders on that team.

Cougars, Spartans, Vikings reach state volleyball

Three West Sound volleyball teams — Central Kitsap, Bainbridge and North Kitsap — qualified for state tournament play on Saturday.

In West Central/Southwest Bi-District tournament play at Capital High School in Olympia, Central Kitsap (15-5) overcame an opening-round loss to Auburn-Riverside to secure a state berth with consecutive wins over Kent-Meridian, Silas and Bainbridge.

Despite losing to Central Kitsap, Bainbridge (17-2) qualified to state by earning wins over Gig Harbor, Lakes, Bonney Lake and Kentlake.

Central Kitsap and Bainbridge begin play in the 3A state tournament Nov. 18 at the Yakima Valley SunDome. Seeding and matchups are scheduled to be released Sunday. Central Kitsap finished seventh at state in 2019. Bainbridge's last trip to state came in 2011.

North Kitsap (16-4) lost 3-0 to Enumclaw and 3-1 to Washington in West Central District 2A tournament play Saturday at Sammamish High School. The Vikings previously qualified for state with a first-round win over White River.

North Kitsap begins play in the 2A state tournament Nov. 19 at the Yakima Valley SunDome. The Vikings have qualified for state every season since 2013. COVID-19 cancelled playoffs in 2020.
