Roundup: Liberty Union girls track and field wins quad meet

Liberty Union hosts quad meet: The Lady Lions hosted a home quad meet on Thursday and placed first with 115 points. Danville took second with 71.5 points, Grove City Christian placed third with 20 points and Millersport earned 11.5 points to take fourth.

Liberty Union took first place in nine events.

Liberty Union winners: high jump: Natalie Cotton; long jump: Anya Craft; discus: Emily Blackstone; 1600 run: Alison Sponseller; 400 dash: Natalie Cotton; 800 run: Elizabeth Conn; 3200 run: Kathleen Slaby; 4x800: Elizabeth Conn, Kathleen Slaby, Caroline Endsley and Ashley Kessler; 4x400: Natalie Cotton, Payton Roberts, Elizabeth Conn and Alison Sponseller.

BASEBALL

Mount Vernon 3, Lancaster 2: The Golden Gales suffered a loss in extra innings after falling to the visiting Yellowjackets in eight innings on Friday. They recorded seven hits throughout the game and scored twice, but left 10 runners on base in the loss.

Zach Mowder led the offense after notching two hits and reaching base after being hit by a pitch. Kathen Hutton reached base three times, and Carter Ross reached base twice.

Jackson Burke provided a solid outing for the Gales on Friday. Burke pitched through five innings and only allowed two runs while he was on the mound.
