Roundup: Nicolozakes too much for West M in girls soccer showdown

FALLS TOWNSHIP — The speed of Marina Nicolozakes proved too much for West Muskingum

Nicolozakes scored off a breakaway with 25:59 left in the second half to trigger a three-goal outburst for visiting John Glenn, which pulled away for a 5-1 win in a battle of Muskingum Valley League unbeatens.

Nicolozakes finished with a trio of goals — all after halftime. The first, off an assist from Kira Kaiser, made it 2-0. The second, after Jayden Thompson's goal for West (8-5, 6-1) cut the lead in half with 28:28 left, came after she ran past two defenders and converted 1-on-1.

She added another 1-on-1 with the keeper at the 19:33 mark, off a pass from Kaiser, to make it 4-1. Oliva Perrin's goal with 1:42 left capped the scoring, as John Glenn (7-4-2) improved to 6-0-1 in league play.

Gwyn Lemon scored in the first half from the top of the box, off a feed from Becca Spohn, with 10:14 left. John Glenn took a 1-0 lead into halftime.

Bella Eubanks also had an assist for John Glenn, which held an 11-6 edge in shots on goal. Faith Lemon had six saves for John Glenn, while Gracie Settles and Kyndall Fountain combined for six for West M.

New Lexington 3, Morgan 1: The Panthers picked up a win on Senior Night during an MVL-Small School match at Jim Rockwell Stadium.

Cadence Carpenter got the Raiders on the board first with 31:20 left in the first half, while Tessa Hubble scored with two minutes left in the half to tie the game at 1 for the Panthers.

Hubble added another goal and Lilah Carson also scored in the second half for New Lex.

Coshocton 3, Philo 2: The Electrics tied the match at 2 in the first five minutes of the second half, but Isabelle Lauvray found Cammy Wilson for the game-winning goal with six minutes left to pace the Lady 'Skins to an MVL win.

Lauvray also scored in the first half and Addie Underwood followed with another to spot Coshocton a 2-0 lead.

Destiny Frye had 14 saves for Coshocton.

No details were available for Philo.

Sheridan 0, Maysville 0: The Generals and Panthers played to a scoreless draw, but no other information was available.

Tri-Valley 3, River View 0: The Scotties broke open a scoreless game with three goals in the final 15 minutes.

Nevaeh Peffers, Maddie Garber, and Avery Dunn scored for the Scotties.

Boys Soccer

Dover 5, Morgan 0: Joshua Smith had a goal in each half for the Tornadoes, who built a 3-0 halftime lead and didn't look back in a nonleague win on the road.

Evan Burrier, Chris Aguire and Collin Stratton also scored for Dover, which held a 30-6 shots on goal.

Rosecrans 2, West M 0: Grady Labishak scored twice off James Goggin assists as the Bishops earned a road shutout in Falls Township.

Steven Porter had five saves for Rosecrans.

New Philadelphia 3, Tri-Valley 1: The visiting Quakers fell behind 1-0, but they scored three times in the second half to pull away for a nonleague win at Kenny Wolford Park.

New Lexington 25, 25, 25, Crooksville 8, 13, 15: Lizzie Ellis had 14 assists and Jerilynn Koehler eight kills to lead the Panthers in an MVL-Small School win in McLuney.

Trinity Cook chipped in four kills and six digs and Abby Wilson eight kills for New Lex.

Khirra Wilson's three kills and Maelee Collins' 11 digs paced Crooksville.

New Lex took the reserve match, 25-21, 19-25, 25-8. Jorja Burkhart had 26 assists and Caroline Dupler four aces for New Lex.

Sheridan 25, 25, 25, John Glenn 12, 22, 18: The Generals rolled to an MVL-Big School win against the Muskies.

Emma Dolan had seven kills, Aleea Musselman six and Hannah DeMattio five for John Glenn (7-10, 5-7); Lauren Blair added 20 assists with five digs and two blocks.

Jamisyn Stinson tallied 16 kills and nine digs, while Nora Saffell added seven kills, four digs and two blocks, Alyssa Ward 11 kills and four digs, Payton 18-of-19 serving with three aces, 17 assists and seven digs and Alexis Bradley 15-of-15 serving with 24 assists and seven digs.

Sheridan won the reserve match, 25-21, 25-20. Sophia Derry and Lily Robinson combined for seven kills and nine digs for John Glenn.

River View 25, 25, 25, Maysville 11, 13, 11: Alivia Spaulding pounded 10 kills to lead a balanced Lady Bear hitting effort in an MVL-Big School match in Newton Township.

Bailey Laudick added seven kills, Kayla Dulgar five and Haley Balo four for River View (11-7, 8-5); Dulgar also had a team-high 18 assists with five aces and seven digs. Brittany Henderson added six assists and four digs.

Olivia McPeek had 13 assists and Rachel Jarvis and Bekah Scott seven digs for Maysville. Jarvis also had seven kills.

Atyanna Milici's 11 points led River View to a 16-25, 25-17, 25-10 reserve win. Laikyn Clark's four kills and five digs led Maysville.

Tri-Valley 25, 25, 25, Philo 12, 20, 14: Eva Dittmar and Lexi Howe combined for 26 kills and Ingrid Dittmar chipped in 27 assists during the Scotties' MVL-Big School win on the road.

Eva Dittmar added 15 kills and four blocks and Sami Cameron three for Tri-Valley; Howe had 11 kills and nine, Annika Collett had four aces on 11-of-12 serving and Howe was 13-of-14 on serves; Caity Journey chipped in 14 digs and Kenzie Albertson nine digs.

Aleigha Busse had six kills and Brooklyn Ferrell and Briannah Wolfe four apiece for Philo. Olivia Winland had 16 digs and Ferrell 13.

Tri-Valley took the reserve match, 23-25, 25-15, 25-22. Makenna Staker's six kills and 15 digs led Philo.

Coshocton 25, 25, 25, West M 15, 12, 17: Lindsey Bryant had 16 kills and Lacey Guthrie added seven for the Lady Skins in an MVL-Small School win at home.

Bryant also had nine digs and Miyah Davis eight, while West and Guthrie had two blocks. Jalynn West had a team-high 34 assists.

Leaders were no reported for West.

West took the reserve match, 25-19, 25-23, behind Maggie Laaper's nine kills and five aces and six kills from Sophia McFadden. Aurora DiNapoli added three aces.
