PERUE, IL – The Chillicothe Paints were stifled at the plate from beginning to end, and they didn’t help themselves by committing five errors Saturday night in a 6-0 loss Prospect League loss against the Illinois Pistol Shrimp.

In the process, the Paints (24-11) saw their seven-game winning streak snapped. Two Pistol Shrimp pitchers combine for 15 strikeouts as Chillicothe managed only four hits.

Anthony Steele’s double led the way, while Cameron Brown, Tim Orr and Jeron Williams finished with one hit each.

Gunnar Boehm started and was the hard-luck loser. He went 5 1/3 innings, giving up nine hits, and six runs, with only three of them being earned. He had five strikeouts and one walk. Todd Bangston pitched a third of an inning and Jake Norris finished it by pitching the final two innings. He gave up no runs, one hit and finished with three strikeouts and he didn’t walk a batter.

The Pistol Shrimp scored an unearned run in the first inning, plated runs in the third and fourth innings to take a 3-0 lead, and then busted it open with a pair of unearned runs in the fifth and another unearned run in the sixth inning to close out the scoring.
