Roundup: Philo comeback stymies John Glenn baseball; Marshall fires another gem for JG

DUNCAN FALLS — They say lightning doesn't strike the same place twice. Philo baseball offered a counter to that logic on Monday.

That's because two-out lightning was all over the Philo Athletic Complex in a 7-6 comeback win against John Glenn, a game that saw the Electrics rally twice with two-out hits for another emotional win.

Jake Howell drove in Talon Preston with the game-winning run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning with a single to secure the team's fourth win in five games.

Down 6-5, Cade Searls scored from first on Preston's one-out double to center field to tie the game. Preston was at third with one out when Griffin Wells followed with a pop out, but Howell's clutch hit off Muskie reliever Jacob Stambush ended it.

It capped a wild game that saw Philo come back from a 5-3 deficit with two runs in the bottom of the seventh, then fall behind again after Ayden Thompson singled home Noah Winland with two outs in the ninth.

Case Fink had a double and two singles, Searls had two singles and Howell had two singles with two RBIs as Philo (4-5, 3-4 MVL-Big) had 10 hits and drew five walks.
