Roundup: PIAA golf tee times listed; Wilmington, Mercer, Hickory girls soccer teams grab wins

Oct. 15—Villa Maria Academy's Anne Marie Prichard and Abby Consiglio repeated as champions at Thursday's District 10 Doubles Tournament at Westwood Racquet Club in Erie.

Prichard and Consiglio defeated Mercyhurst Prep's Alie DiNicola and Lauren Richmond, 7-5, 6-4, to defend their D-10 doubles crown.

McDowell's Nabiah Bhatti and Samantha Becker won the Class 3A doubles title.

Greenville's Makenna Philson was named the Class 2A recipient of District 10's Coach John Best Memorial Good Sport Award.

GOLF

Tee times have been posted for Monday's PIAA Class 2A Golf Championships at Heritage Hills Golf Resort in York.

Slippery Rock junior Jacob Wolak and Hickory sophomore Sasha Petrochko, the District 10 champ, tee off on hole No. 1. Wolak begins the tourney at 8:40 a.m. while Petrochko tees off at 10:30 a.m.

The other area golfers begin the tourney on hole No. 10. Tee times are: Grove City seniors Toby Matson 9:55 a.m. and Emily Donahue 10:05 a.m., Hickory sophomore Ava Liburdi 10:05 a.m., Hickory freshman Luciana Masters 10:15 a.m., Wilmington sophomore Kaitlyn Hoover 10:15 a.m., and Hickory senior McKenzie Gustas 10:25 a.m.

GIRLS SOCCER

— Wilmington 12, Kennedy Catholic 0 — At New Wilmington, Reese Walker and Ashley Wignall scored 3 goals each as the Lady Hounds (6-1, 11-3) rolled in the Region 1 contest.

Analiese Hendrickson added 2 goals for Wilmington and Becka Book, Anna Williams, Annalee Gardner, and Evie Dickinson had the other goals.

Walker and Williams collected 3 assists each, Paige Buckwalter had 2 assists, and Hendrickson, Gardner, and Sarah Thomas each had 1 helper.

Taylor Kendall made 1 save to earn the shutout in goal for Wilmington.

Kennedy Catholic's goalie Breyln Chambers made 22 saves in the loss.

— Mercer 15, West Middlesex 0 — At West Middlesex, the Lady M's rolled to the Region 1 victory.

Julia Balaski fired in 6 goals to lead the way for Mercer. Morgan Miller had a hat trick, Mallory White and Devyn Bailey both scored a pair of goals, and Alexa Graul and Lauren Chess added the other goals.

Devyn Bailey and Maddy Bailey had 3 assists each, Ella Vernam was credited with 2 assists, and Ally Rynd and Aubree Mathieson collected 1 assist each.

Cassie Vorisek (11 saves) and Katelynn Moyer (14 saves) split time in goal for WM.

— Hickory 7, Sharon 0 — At Hornet Stadium, Hickory picked up the Region 2 win over the Tigers.

Cecelia Perman cross the ball to Anna Rodenbaugh to give the Hornets a 1-0 lead. Perman and Luciana Masters followed with goals of their own as Hickory led 3-0 at halftime.

The 2nd half opened like the first, but this time Rodenbaugh fed Perman for a goal as Hickory went up 4-0. Abby Cozad added a pair of goals (direct kick and corner kick) and Lauren Harkless collected a goal.

Alexxa Miller picked up her 2nd shutout of the week for Hickory.

BOYS SOCCER

— Brookfield 3, Pymatuning Valley 2 — At Andover, Andrew Budnik scored a pair of goals and Justin Calip fired in the other as the Warriors edged the Lakers.

Telly Hamilton picked up the win in goal. He registered 14 saves.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

— Jamestown 3, Farrell 0 — At E.J. McCluskey Gymnasium, Coach Stephanie Morimando's Lady Muskies (6-4, 10-4) captured the Region 1 win, 25-15, 25-18, 25-20.
