Roundup: Ridgewood's Bice shines at Cambridge meet

CAMBRIDGE — Kenzie Bice was ninth of 84 runners to lead Ridgewood's girls cross country team to a third place finish in the small school race on Monday at the Cambridge Invitational.

Alaina Swiney was 13th (21:54.7), Autumn Joyce 18th (22:36.8) and Victoria Palmer 34th (24:14.5) for Ridgewood, which totaled 76 points. Ava Rauh Hill was 45th (24:54.2).

Tuscarawas Valley, behind overall champion Trista Lieser and runner-up Sami Ward, won with 34 points. Barnesville, behind third-place Aubrey Johnson, was third with 66.

Tumblin leads River View boys at Pick North: Drew Tumblin finished 29th of 237 runners to pace the Black Bears among 22 teams in the Division II-III race at the Pickerington North Panther Invitational.

Tumblin finished in 17:43, just outside of the top 20. Trey Skjold was 89th (19:02.3), Landon Cochran 117th (19:43.3), Brody Johnson 125th (20:01.1) and Ethan Fisher 154th (20:56.3) for River View.

Lancaster Fairfield Union won with 59, followed by Williamstown (West Virginia) at 96, Baltimore Liberty Union (128), Bexley (136) and Plain City Jonathan Alder (154).

Fairfield Union senior Marcus Runkle won the race in 15:47.2, almost 30 seconds faster than second-place Chase Trembly (16:16.6), of Williamstown.

River View's girls were 16th of 20 teams as Lydia Black was 63rd of 194 runners in 22:46.7 to lead the team. Courtney Bookless was 96th (23:54.2), Kirsten Courtright 103rd (24:02.1), Leah Allen 117th (24:28.2) and Lyla Jarvis 147th (26:05.5).

Athens freshman Sophia Szolosi blew away the field to win in 18:38.5, almost a minute faster than Circleville sophomore Maddux Bigam, who was second (19:26.5). Jonathan Alder won with 97, followed by Fairfield Union (103), Williamstown (113), Athens (129) and Parkersburg (West Virginia) (147).

Volleyball

Coshocton 25, 25, 25, Ridgewood 13, 15, 10: Jalynn West set up 39 assists with seven digs, two digs and two blocks for the Lady Skins (13-5) in a nonleague county clash at The Wigwam.

Lindsey Bryant and Kenedi Jackson combined for 29 kills and Addy Gordon added six for a dominant Coshocton hitting effort that also saw Lacey Guthrie and Jaiden Arnold combine for seven.

Miyah Davis totaled 25 digs and Bryant had 11 for Coshocton's defense. Leah Mathias and Saige Abbott had two aces.

Ridgewood took the reserve match, 25-12, 25-27, 25-15. Maggie Laaper had 16 kills and Jaeli Tiedt 15 assists and nine digs for Coshocton.
