Roundup: River View surges past Coshocton

COSHOCTON — Visiting River View scored the game's first four goals and never looked back in a 6-1 victory over rival Coshocton in a Muskingum Valley League boys soccer on Tuesday at Stewart Field.

Leading the way for the Black Bears, who improved to 1-1, was Parker Andrews and Hayden Walters, who each had a goal and an assist. Camden Albertson, Colin Addy, Carter Knicely and Jen Furio each added a goal and Brody Stevens added the other assist.

MJ White had the only save for the Bears, who welcome John Glenn in a key MVL battle on Thursday. Anthony Morgan also saw time in goal in the win.

Kabe Bylaw had seven saves for Coshocton.

Volleyball

River View 25, 25, 25, West Muskingum 9, 12, 12: Liv Spaulding and Haley Balo combined for 14 kills and Kayla Dulgar set out 15 assists, as the Lady Bears swept the Tornadoes in MVL crossover play.

Spaulding collected eight kills and two blocks, Dulgar and Balo each served three aces and Balo tallied six kills for the winners.

Coshocton 25, 27, 23, 25, John Glenn 19, 25, 25, 20: Jalynn West's 35 assists sparked a strong attack, as Kenidi Jackson and Lindsay Bryant reached double-figures with 12 kills and 11 kills, respectively, in the Lady 'Skins' MVL crossover win.

Lacey Guthrie chipped in six kills, while last year's MVL defensive player of the year, Miyah Davis, anchored the back line with 24 digs -- turning away several hard-driven Muskie attacks. Bryant and Jackson also contributed defensively with 14 and 10 digs, and Addy Gordon just missed double figures with nine.

West also had three blocks, and Davis served up three aces, while West, Guthrie and Gordon contributed two each.

Kara Fields hit 13 kills with four blocks and Emma Briggs added eight kills, three aces and 13 digs to pace John Glenn. Hannah Demattio chipped in five kills and five blocks, Emma Dolan four kills, 10 digs and four blocks, Aleea Musselman three kills, 14 digs and five blocks and Lauren Blair 26 assists and 20 digs.

John Glenn reserves picked up a 26-24, 20-25, 25-20 win, as Brelynn Barr had six kills, 11 assists, three digs and three blocks, Lily Robinson seven assists and four digs and Aubrey Larrick four kills and five digs. Sophia McFadden had five kills and five service aces, Saige Abbott served four aces with three blocks and three kills and Jaeli Tiedt dished out eight assists for the Coshocton reserves.

Ridgewood 25, 25, 25, East Canton 11, 12, 13: Kya Masloski hit 11 kills and Kaelynn Robinson made a team-high 11 digs and served six aces, as the Generals moved to 1-1 overall.

Kya added four digs, three assists and two aces, Robinson tallied six kills and six points and Kelley Masloski set up 17 assists with three digs to lead the winners.

Kadin Belt added six digs, four assists, two aces and nine points, Maggie Shannon six digs, two aces and four points, Anyssa Cutlip three kills and three aces, Kaiedence Smith four digs, two aces and three points, Katelyn Scott three kills and Haylee Adkins four digs for Ridgewood.

Ridgewood's jayvee won in two sets and the freshman won in three sets.

Boys Golf

River View Junior High 144, John Glenn 187: Gavin Gress earned medalist honors with a 30, as the Black Bears won a dual meet.

Colton Gress added a 36, Clark Frischen chipped in a 37 and Brynn Harstine had 41 for River View.

Chase McCauley shot 41 to pace the Muskies.
