Roundup: Sharp powers Johnstown girls basketball past Newark Catholic

Kylie Sharp hit a pair of 3-pointers and piled up 10 of her game-high 22 points in the third quarter Friday, sending the Johnstown girls basketball team to a 44-32 victory against visiting Newark Catholic in Licking County League-Cardinal Division play.

Sharp also totaled three assists, and Alexis Diehl added 10 points and 13 rebounds and Lauren Baughman 10 rebounds for the Johnnies (2-2, 1-1), who held the Green Wave to five points in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

Sophie Peloquin led NC (1-1, 1-1) with 15 points, and Kylie Gibson added 10.

Gossman fuels Granville

Ava Gossman caught fire in the second quarter, hitting a trio of 3-pointers and sparked Granville in a 54-43 victory at Zanesville in LCL-Buckeye play.

Gossman totaled 21 points for the Blue Aces (4-0, 2-0), who trailed 15-9 after one quarter and 26-24 at halftime before a 19-6 onslaught in the third quarter. Harper Annarino added 11 points and Aliyah Moore nine on a trio of 3s.

Jersey Draughn and Rylie McCuen led the Blue Devils (2-1, 1-1) with 10 points apiece.

Watkins wins at Heights

Cameryn Wheeler stuffed the stat sheet with a triple-double, recording 16 points, 12 rebounds and 10 steals for Watkins Memorial in a 53-31 victory at Licking Heights in LCL-Buckeye play.

Kalleigh Rennie added a team-high 20 points and Ella Perry eight rebounds for the Warriors (2-1, 1-1).

Amya Thompson led the Hornets (1-3, 0-1) with 12 points, and Tori Diggs added nine on a trio of 3s.

Northridge beats Utica

Darla Dorman's nine points and 18 rebounds lifted Northridge to a 36-31 victory against visiting Utica in LCL-Cardinal play.

Reese Callan added nine points and Kenzie Hannahs eight for the Vikings (3-0, 2-0).

Abby Dickson piled up 19 points for Utica (1-3, 0-2).

Newark edged on road

Pickerington Central used a 24-17 edge in the fourth quarter to slip past visiting Newark, 51-46, in Ohio Capital Conference-Buckeye Division play.

Brie Gingras totaled 20 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead the Wildcats (1-3, 1-1). Jenna Shackleford added 12 points and five rebounds and Ally Carr four assists.

Berry Wallace led the Tigers (4-0, 2-0) with 20 points.

Liberty falls

Shelby Carr had 12 points and eight rebounds Thursday for Liberty Christian (0-4) in a 54-14 loss at Bishop Rosecrans.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Granville nipped at home

Granville fell 55-53 in the final seconds to visiting Bishop Hartley on Thursday.

Rex Rader led the Blue Aces (0-2) with 15 points, and Jase Becker was right behind with 14.
