Roundup: Southeastern softball edges out win over Chillicothe

BASEBALL

Huntington 3, Miami Trace 2: Andrew Oyer pitched a complete game for the Huntsmen in a win over the Panthers on Thursday. Oyer struck out four batters and allowed just one earned run during his time on the mound.

Braylon Leach went 2-for-4 with a triple and scored a run in the win. DJ Crocker and Caiden Stewart both batted in a run for the Huntsmen, with Crocker notching two hits including a double and scoring a run. Dalton Black went 2-for-3 on the day and scored a run.

Piketon 10, Wellston 3: Alex Jenkins allowed one earned run through six innings on the mound to help lead the Redstreaks to a nonconference win over the Golden Rockets. Jenkins allowed just hits and three walks during his time on the mound while also striking out three.

Christian Horn came up big on offense after logging three hits with three RBIs while also scoring a run. Cayde Conley batted in two runs and scored a run while also notching a stolen base. Garrett Moore tallied two hits and an RBI, and Jenkins picked up two RBIs while at the plate. Grayson Roberts, Mason Roberts and Buddy Wilson all recorded a hit for the Redstreaks.

Jackson 8, Unioto 4: The Shermans suffered their first loss after falling to the Ironmen at VA Memorial Stadium on Thursday. Keegan Snyder led the offense after he went 4-for-4 with a double and scored a run in the loss. Dylan Grubbs picked up three hits and scored once, and Ashton Crace went 2-for-4 and scored a run. Andrew Lemaster picked up a hit and batted in a run, and Isaiah Leeth tallied an RBI on a sacrifice fly.

Maverick Frump provided a solid relief effort on the mound. Frump struck out six batters in his four innings of work, and he allowed three runs in that span.

SOFTBALL

Southeastern 7, Chillicothe 6: Erin Richendollar did a little bit of everything for the Panthers as she led them to a nonconference win over the Cavaliers. The senior threw a complete game, striking out eight batters and allowing four earned runs in that span. Richendollar also went 1-for-3 at the plate, blasting a home run and batting in three runs while also scoring twice.

Tamra Elliott and Jozy Lougheed also batted in runs for the Panthers. Ally Fisher recorded two hits and two stolen bases, and Jessie Higley hit a double while scoring twice. Grace Wireman scored twice and stole two bases, and Morgan Ware logged a hit in the win.

Vivian Morgan and Mikayla Spaulding led the Cavaliers on offense. The duo each recorded a double and an RBI in the loss, and both Morgan and Spaulding scored once.

Zane Trace 6, Miami Trace 2: The Pioneers notched their second win after a solid victory over the Panthers. Brynn Wipert picked up her second win in the circle after pitching a complete game. Wipert struck out 10 batters while allowing just four hits and two runs.

Lexi Scott led the Pioneers on offense after putting up three hits and three RBIs. Gracey McCullough added on two hits, including a double, and scored two runs. Wipert, Alayna Butler, Abby Guffey and Laynie Scott all pitched in a hit, and Butler also batted in a run.

Piketon 13, Green 0: The Redstreaks stomped the Bobcats behind a dominant performance from Camryn Campbell in the circle. Campbell pitched a no-hitter and led her team to an excellent nonconference win. Campbell struck out 13 batters and walked just four as she shut the Bobcats over the course of five innings. Campbell also hit a double, logged two RBIs, stole a base and scored a run in the win.

Natalie Cooper and Kyndall Carroll each tallied three hits. Cooper hit three doubles, scored four times and batted in a run. Carroll picked up three RBIs and scored once for the Redstreaks. Zoey Fuchs went 2-for-4 on the day, and Kaylee Maynard batted in a run, and she matched Cooper and Carroll with a stolen base.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Westfall 3, St. Charles 2: The Mustangs notched a solid win after defeating the Cardinals in five sets on Thursday. The Mustangs claimed sets one and two 25-14 and 25-23, respectively, before inching out a 15-11 win in the final set to claim the victory.

Colton Spaniol led the Mustangs with 10 kills, eight digs and two assists in the win. Jackson Thomas earned a team-high 14 assists, while also picking up six digs and five kills. Wes Moats tallied six kills, four digs, two blocks and two aces. Drew Bowers led the team with a whopping 23 digs, and he also earned nine kills. Spaniol and Thomas also picked up aces in the win.
