Dani Stewart was a two-way standout for the Lakewood softball team on Saturday, recording a double and four RBIs at the plate and striking out 12 in 5 2/3 innings from the circle for the host Lancers in an 8-4 victory against Buckeye Valley.
Audrey Thomas totaled two hits, including a double, and three runs scored for the Lancers (3-2-1). Sidney Willey added a hit, a run scored and an RBI and Carly Williams and Lauren Griffith a hit and an RBI apiece.
West powers Heights
Alissa West's two solo home runs highlighted a 4-for-5 performance, lifting Licking Heights to a 13-11 victory at New Albany.
Lily Meidl also had four hits for the Hornets (4-0), hitting a double, scoring a run and driving in two. Syd Stout added three hits and two runs scored, Evie Hays a double and three runs scored and Carly Bennett a hit, a run scored and an RBI.
Watkins wins slugfest
Ethan Ryan was a perfect 3-for-3 with a double, scoring three runs and driving in two, sparking Watkins Memorial in a 12-10 victory against Hamilton Southeastern (Indiana).
Chase Massie added two hits, a run scored and two RBIs, Ayden Guthrie a hit and four runs scored and Logan Fitch a hit and a run scored for the Warriors (2-3). Brayden Windnagel struck out five and allowed two earned runs in three innings of relief.
Lakewood edged at home
Cayden MacDonald struck out three in four four-hit innings for Lakewood in a 5-3 loss to visiting Fairfield Union.
Colton Ferry had a hit and a run scored, Nate Gall a hit and an RBI and Carter Flowers and Luke Pierce a run scored apiece for the Lancers (1-3).
Utica falls on road
Tyler Collura had a double, a run scored and an RBI for Utica in a 13-3 loss at Pleasure Ridge Park (Kentucky).
Gavin Chinn added a double and a run scored and Aidyn Burgess a hit and an RBI for Utica (2-2). Braxton Fisher struck out two in 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
Johnstown drops road game
Benji Perez doubled twice, scored a run and drove in two for Johnstown in a 19-3 loss at St. Charles.
Cole Boroff added a double and a run scored for the Johnnies (1-1).
Hornets shine at UA
D.J. Fillmore ran a time of 10.78 to win the 100 and joined Jalynn Fillmore, Nick McDougall and Simi Jaf-Ogunlayi on the winning 400 relay (44.58), leading Licking Heights during the Upper Arlington Invitational.
Alex Amartey also won the discus (142-feet-8) for the Hornets.
In the girls meet, Heights’ Temiloluwa Jaf-Ogunlayi won the 100 (12.75), and Addison Caudill, Emma French, Morgan Watkins and Liz Killey won the 3,200 relay (10:23.78).
Baker takes third
Camryn Baker ran a time of 13:12.07 to place third in the 3,200 for Utica during Meadowbrook's Joe Kasper Memorial.
Stella Bowman added a sixth in the 400 (1:10.36). The top boys individual placer was Carson Meek sixth in the 200 (24.59).
