Julian Turney carried 20 times for a game-high 105 yards and a touchdown as the St. Augustine Prep football team topped Lenape, 17-10, in a West Jersey Football League American Division contest Friday night.

St. Augustine's Tristan McLeer added 91 yards on the ground and scored the game-winning touchdown on a 7-yard run in the fourth quarter. Antonio Freund opened the game's scoring with a 39-yard field goal in the second quarter.

Zyaire Fleming accounted for Lenape's lone touchdown on a 2-yard run. Ethan Blackburn converted a 42-yard field goal for the Indians.

Millville 31, Cherokee 20: The Millville High School football team came from behind to defeat Cherokee on Friday night.

The Thunderbolts trailed 14-7 early in the third quarter, but scored two unanswered touchdowns to lead 21-14 heading into the fourth quarter.

Junior quarterback Jacob Zamot had two touchdown passes to Lotzier Brooks, while Thomas Smith and Naeem Sharp added rushing touchdowns for the Bolts.

Cherokee quarterback Luke Brown had two rushing touchdowns and Tommy Pajic caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from Cam Burti to round out the Chiefs’ scoring.

Holy Spirit 31, Kingsway 27: Sean Burns threw a go-ahead, 24-yard touchdown to Jayden Llanos with 44.7 seconds remaining as the Spartans rallied from a 27-6 deficit to stun the Dragons and capture the West Jersey Football League Continental Division championship on Friday night.

Burns ran or threw on all but one play for Holy Spirit, completing 35-of-52 passes for 368 yards, 4 touchdowns – all of which went to Llanos – and 2 interceptions, and he ran for a TD. Burns now has 2,174 yards on the campaign, breaking the school record set previously by Al Mallen (2,104; 1988), per South Jersey historian Chuck Langerman.

Llanos finished with 12 grabs for 140 yards and those 4 scores while Gavin Roman broke his own school record with 15 catches, which he gained 142 yards on.

Holy Spirit’s comeback was set in motion by Robert McDevitt’s blocked field goal midway through the second quarter. The Spartans didn’t allow a point after that.

Delsea 33, St. Joseph 27: Wayne Adair rushed for two fourth-quarter touchdowns, including the go-ahead score with 52 seconds left in regulation, as the Crusaders overcame four turnovers to beat the upset-minded Wildcats at Rowan University.

The Crusaders closed out their regular season with an 8-0 record and the win should lock up the No. 1 overall seed in the South Group 3 playoffs.

Jared Schoppe rushed for three touchdowns, raising his season total to 17.

St. Joseph, which played its Homecoming game on the turf at Rowan, had its five-game winning streak snapped and fell to 5-2. James Steel hauled in a Hail Mary pass to end the first half and Trevin DelGozzo booted a pair of field goals, including a 36-yarder that tied the game late in the fourth quarter.

Pitman 14, Pennsville 7: Keros Cooper scored what proved to be the game-winning touchdown on a 75-yard run with 7 minutes, 24 seconds left to play in the fourth quarter to help lead Pitman (5-2) to a West Jersey Football League Royal Division title.

Cumberland 27, Clayton 12: Qua'yon Nock hauled in an 85-yard touchdown reception and Kyon Barnes had a 90-yard interception return for a score as the Colts notched their fifth victory in a row.

Cinnaminson 35, Pemberton 6: The Pirates rolled up 335 rushing yards, including 141 on 11 carries by quarterback Jack Czarnawski, to clinch at least a share of the West Jersey Football League Freedom Division.

Brian Finerghty carried 11 times for 90 yards and two touchdowns for Cinnaminson and freshman Dominic Del Grippo added 68 yards and two scores on nine totes.

It was the 99th career win for Cinnaminson coach Mario Patrizi.

West Deptford 24, Haddon Heights 6: Lawrence Howard rushed for a 151 yards and a pair of touchdowns, including a 61-yarder in the first quarter, to pace the Eagles to victory. Howard also found the end zone on a 5-yard run in the third quarter.

Zack Gugel had a 65-yard interception return for a touchdown in the win, while Brady Clark connected on a 31-yard field goal for West Deptford.

Andrew Harris threw a 17-yard touchdown to Jayden Trace for Haddon Heights.

Shawnee 30, Williamstown 14: Nick Rusinski carried 17 times for 134 yards, including a 1-yard touchdown run, as the Renegades rolled to victory.

Shawnee quarterback Joe Papa threw for 113 yards and added a pair of rushing scores in the win.

Williamstown pulled within 10-7 on a 59-yard touchdown pass from Drew Craig to Anthony Lanteigne but Shawnee answered with three unanswered trips to the end zone to put the game out of reach.

Willingboro 42, Burlington Township 15: Derrick Bryant rushed for a game-high 230 yards on 19 carries and two touchdowns and quarterback Lamar Best tossed a pair of scores in Willingboro's win.

Naquan Jones paced Burlington Township with 131 rushing yards, including a 5-yard touchdown run.

Woodstown 34, Penns Grove 0: Max Webb threw a 10-yard touchdown pass and added a 43-yard touchdown run in Woodstown's win. Bryce Belinfanti opened the scoring on a 12-yard touchdown run and James Hill chipped in with a 9-yard score on the ground.

Richie Burger was on the receiving end of Webb's touchdown pass and David Harvey capped the scoring with a 43-yard scoring run.

Saturday's Games

Cherry Hill East 45, Haddon Twp. 12: Sophomore quarterback Zach Salsbery threw for three scores and senior Ethan Haddock found the end zone three times as the Cougars clinched a share of the WJFL Classic Division title - its first banner in 32 years - with the road win.

Salsbery got the start at QB when Ben Cohen broke his hand in practice this week. He connected twice with Haddock for touchdowns and threw for a third score to Jaxson Bowman.

Haddock returned a punt 75 yards for a third score and had an interception on defense.

East shares the Classic title with Florence.

Salem 21, Woodbury 20: The Rams reeled off 14 points in the final five minutes to lock up a victory, and more importantly, assures the team will rise in the Group 1 power points.

Salem's win created a tie for the WJFL Diamond Division title with Woodbury and Woodstown sharing the crown.

Jahki Coates hit Ramaji Bundy for a 72-yard touchdown pass to pull Salem within 20-14 with 4:49 left in the fourth quarter. Coates added the decisive touchdown on a 1-yard keeper with 63 seconds left in regulation.

Coates eclipsed 1,000 passing yards for the season, becoming just the fifth quarterback in South Jersey history to hit the number in his freshman, sophomore, junior and senior campaigns, per South Jersey historian Chuck Langerman.

Schalick 33, Gloucester Catholic 26: Kenai Simmons ran 23 times for 171 yards and two touchdowns, caught a 61-yard pass and intercepted two passes as Schalick wrapped up the WJFL Horizon Division title.

The Cougars held an eight-point halftime lead and seemed to take command with a six-minute touchdown drive to open the second, but Gloucester Catholic came back twice to make it a one-score game. Rams quarterback Jack Mustaro hit his brother, RJ Mustaro, with a 17-yard touchdown pass with 42 seconds left and Gloucester Catholic recovered the onside kick that followed, only to have the recovery taken away on a "pop-up kickoff" infraction. Schalick covered the second try and ran out the clock.

Deptford 21, Overbrook 13: Dariyon Roane had a 45-yard pick-6 and stuffed Overbrook’s Eddie Bupp on 4th-and-goal from the 3-yard line late in the fourth quarter to lift the Spartans to a share of the WJFL Colonial championship, their first title in 18 years.

CJ Carter had a 1-yard touchdown run and 49-yard TD pass to Micky Nelson for the victors.

Maple Shade 37, Burlington City 0: The Wildcats captured the Freedom Division crown with a lopsided win over the Blue Devils. Nathan Veasey threw for two scores and had a pick-6 on defense for Maple Shade, which held a 29-point lead after one quarter.

Paulsboro 34, Audubon 19: Senior quarterback Rocco Pellegrini threw for two scores and rushed for a third TD as the Raiders overcame an early deficit to flatten the Green Wave. Paulsboro improved to 4-4 after an 0-3 start to its season.

Pennsauken 32, Vineland 14: Dante Viccharelli threw for three touchdowns, including two to Premier Wynn, as Pennsauken finished its regular-season schedule with an 8-0 record.

Daniel Russo rushed for an 85-yard touchdown and hit Tayshun Newman for a scoring strike to lead Vineland.

Absegami 41, Bridgeton 6: Kendall Armstrong threw for five touchdown passes, two each to Pedro Reyes and Nyjere Robinson and one to Ibn Russell, in the victory. Reyes also had a 89-yard kick return for a score.
