Rouse High School coach charged with sexual assault

LEANDER, Texas (KXAN) — A Rouse High School staff member was arrested and charged with sexual assault, according to Williamson County jail records.

Jail records show Brandon Matthew Hopp was booked on Tuesday on a charge of sexual assault.

Hopp is a coach and a teacher at the school, according to a letter Rouse High sent to families Tuesday. The school said Hopp was on administrative leave.

Teacher accused of inappropriate relationship with student at Rouse High School

Attorney information for Hopp wasn’t available as of Tuesday afternoon. KXAN will update this story when new information is received.

The Leander Police Department and Leander Independent School District confirmed last week they were investigating a possible inappropriate relationship between a teacher and a student at a high school, according to a previous letter from the school.

LPD said in a Tuesday night statement to KXAN officers went to the high school on Feb. 16 to investigate an alleged inappropriate relationship between Hopp, 26, and a 16-year-old female student.

Leander police obtained an arrest warrant for Hopp for sexual assault of a child, which police said is a second-degree felony.

According to police, no other victims were identified during the investigation.
