Route 46 Party City in Woodland Park to close, one of 22 locations to shutter nationwide

The Party City on Route 46 in Woodland Park is set to close, one of 22 locations nationwide scheduled to shutter, according to a court filing obtained by The Record and NorthJerey.com.

The filing, which lists the 22 stores, did not specify when the location would close. The Woodcliff Lakes-based party store chain will still have multiple locations in North Jersey, including two in Paramus and one in Clifton.

Party City, which was founded in East Hanover in 1986, filed for bankruptcy in January.

A spokesperson for Party City did not respond to a request for comment.

Party City doesn't expect its bankruptcy filing to impact workers at its Bergen County headquarters in Woodcliff Lake, where it employs up to 700 people, the company said in an email in January.

The chain has struggled with rising prices and a pullback in consumer spending. It said its franchise stores, subsidiaries outside of the U.S. and its coveted foil balloons business, Anagram, will not be part of its restructuring.
