UPDATE: Route 60 reopened in Rainelle after fire near Rainelle Elementary School, detour available

UPDATE: February 6, 2024, @ 12:11 PM | RAINELLE, WV (WVNS) — Route 60/Kanawha Avenue is back open after an earlier structure fire.

According to Greenbrier County Homeland Security and Emergency Management, the road is back open after an earlier structure fire near Rainelle Elementary School. Detours remain open for alternate routes of travel.

RAINELLE, WV (WVNS) — Route 60/ Kanawha Avenue in Rainelle is currently closed due to an active structure fire.

According to Greenbrier County Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Route 60/Kanawha Avenue, in front of Rainelle Elementary School, is closed until further notice due to an ongoing fire near the school. It was confirmed that no part of the school campus is involved in the fire.

Greenbrier County 911 confirmed the fire and said the call came in at 8:43 AM, Tuesday, February 6, 2024. Members from the Rainelle Fire Department, Quinwood Fire Department, Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department, Smoot Volunteer Fire Department, and Rupert Volunteer Fire Department are all on scene with White Sulphur Springs EMS.

No injuries were reported at this time. Crews remain on scene.

Anyone travelling around Rainelle is asked to find an alternate route of travel and remain cautious of other drivers who are doing the same.
