Route 7 in Burrillville closing at Victory Highway until December for bridge repair

BURRILLVILLE − Route 7 will close at the Nasonville Concrete Arch Bridge for three months as crews work to repair the bridge.

Closure of the bridge, and detours, start on Friday, Sept. 8. The bridge goes over a former mill waterway, near the intersection with Victory Highway to the north and Lorry Lane to the south, Department of Transportation spokesman Charles St. Martin wrote in a news release.

Where is the Route 7 detour?

Drivers will be detoured onto Route 102, also known as Broncos Highway, the Glendale Bypass and Victory Highway.

The state will set up a temporary traffic signal at the intersection of Route 7 and Victory Highway "to keep traffic moving through the village."

What are the bridge repairs?

The bridge repairs include reconstruction of a small section of Route 7 on both sides of the bridge, a new safety railing and "concrete repairs," he wrote.

In all, three bridges in Burrillville are being repaired at a cost of $18.8 million.

The other two bridges are the Glendale and Joslin Road bridges. All three projects are slated to be done by summer 2026.

Built in 1907, the bridge originally had iron picket railings, replaced in 1924 by concrete railings intended to stop vehicles from plunging into the water, according to the website waymarking.com.
