Rowan County family members arrested, found with 500 grams of fentanyl
ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Two people have been arrested after being found with nearly 500 grams of fentanyl from a joint investigation, according to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation started in the summer of 2023 in Rowan County and surrounding areas.
On Dec. 20, 2023, 53-year-old Anthony Angle was arrested while at the U.S. Probation Office in Salisbury for a meeting with his probation officer.

Initially, Angle was charged with two counts of trafficking more than 100 grams of fentanyl and was placed under a $500,000 secured bond.
Afterward, investigators from multiple different law enforcement agencies used a search warrant on his house at 180 Apex Lane in Cleveland, NC, where more evidence was found.
On Jan. 19, 2024, he was charged with another count of conspiracy to traffic fentanyl, and his bond was increased to $525,000, officials said.
Earlier that day, 37-year-old Antonio Eugene Morris, a relative of Angle, was arrested after fleeing from a vehicle stop conducted by RCSO’s Criminal Apprehension Team.

Officials say officers recovered an estimated 400 grams of a fentanyl/cocaine mixture that Morris threw out of the vehicle during the pursuit.
The drugs were recovered when the vehicle came to a stop. Morris was charged with:
Two counts of trafficking in fentanyl
Maintaining a vehicle for storing a controlled substance
Fleeing to elude arrest
Attempting to destroy evidence
Conspiracy to traffic fentanyl
He was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $700,000 secured bond.
Both Angle and Morris have prior federal drug charges. Officials say the investigation is ongoing and is pending federal prosecution.
