Roy motorcyclist suffers injuries after collision with minivan in South Prairie
A Roy man suffered serious injuries after his motorcycle collided with a minivan Saturday in South Prairie.
The 63-year-old man was traveling on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on state Route 162 near the 256th Ave. E and Pioneer Way E intersection. A 66-year-old South Prairie man driving a Chrysler Pacifica minivan was traveling west until he took a left turn onto a private driveway.
Trooper Robert Reyer, a Washington State Patrol spokesperson, said the motorcyclist drove into the minivan’s passenger side. The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition, he said.
Reyer said the minivan driver failed to yield the right of way to the motorcyclist. WSP cited the driver for negligent driving in the second degree. The driver was uninjured, he said.
WSP posted on its social media about the collision the same day, noting both directions of milepost 18 were “fully blocked.” As of 3 p.m., the road had been cleared and reopened for traffic.
