Royal Caribbean passenger banned from ship after risking her life for photo opportunity

A Royal Caribbean passenger has been issued a lifetime ban from the popular cruise line after putting herself in danger for a photo last week.

The woman, whose identity has not been released, was spotted climbing over the railing of her stateroom's balcony aboard the Allure of the Seas by passenger Peter Blosic, who took a photo of the stunt and alerted ship personnel.

In Blosic's photo, which he shared on social media, the offending passenger can be seen posing in a blue bathing suit with her hands over her head while standing on a small ledge outside of the barrier. The vessel was approaching Royal Caribbean's private port in Labadee, Haiti, at the time of the incident.

“Just witnessed this on Allure. What an absolute IDIOT," Blosic wrote, according to the Sun.

A Royal Caribbean spokesperson confirmed the incident to In the Know, adding that both the female guest and her companion would not be welcome back on any Royal Caribbean ships.

“Earlier this week on the Allure of the Seas a guest was observed recklessly and dangerously posing for a photo by standing on her stateroom balcony railing with the help of her companion," the company said. "Security was notified and the guests were later debarked in Falmouth, Jamaica as a result of their actions and are now banned for life from sailing with Royal Caribbean."

Royal Caribbean explains in its guest conduct policy that "sitting, standing, laying or climbing on, over or across any exterior or interior railings or other protective barriers" is strictly prohibited.

Earlier this month, a 75-year-old cruise passenger died after plunging from a balcony on the ship's eighth floor off the coast of Spain.

A spokesperson for Costa Cruises, an Italy-based company owned by Carnival Corporation, said the female passenger "voluntarily" jumped off the ship to her death.
