The Royal Family Shares Well-Wishes for Meghan Markle on Her 40th Birthday

The royal family is commemorating the Duchess of Sussex's 40th birthday.

Today, Queen Elizabeth II utilized the official royal family social media accounts to wish Duchess Meghan a happy birthday. The tribute, which was posted on the royal family's Twitter and Instagram Stories, includes a picture of the duchess and Queen Elizabeth's 2018 outing to Cheshire, as well as one of Meghan; her husband, Prince Harry; and their son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor on their South Africa tour in 2019. "Wishing The Duchess of Sussex a very Happy Birthday today!" the caption read.

Prince William and Duchess Kate also commemorated Meghan's birthday, posting a picture from her and Harry's 2018 tour of Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific on their official Twitter and Instagram Stories. Kensington Palace wrote in the caption, "Wishing a happy 40th birthday to The Duchess of Sussex!"

Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla also sent birthday wishes to Meghan through a post on their official Twitter account, with a caption that read, "Wishing the Duchess of Sussex a very happy 40th birthday."

Meghan has planned a low-key birthday celebration this year. A source close to the duchess revealed yesterday that she is planning to spend the day "privately" with Prince Harry, and their two children, Archie and Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, at their home in Montecito, California. The duchess has kept a low profile since welcoming her second child last June, with both she and Harry taking parental leave following Lili's birth.

The Duchess of Sussex made a special public appearance through a video posted this morning, announcing her new charitable initiative to help women affected by the pandemic reenter the workforce. Through her 40x40 initiative, the duchess is encouraging people to contribute 40 minutes of mentorship or community service to help the millions of women around the world who have left the workforce during the pandemic due to job loss or having to care for family members.
