RPD investigating second shooting on Hanover Ave NW, suspect in custody

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Roanoke Police say they are investigating a separate shooting incident that occurred on Hanover Ave. NW on Feb. 22.

According to RPD, around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, 911 dispatch received information that a person had been shot on the 400 block of Hanover Ave NW. On the scene, officers found a man lying on the ground outside of a home with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

The man was taken to the hospital for treatment by Roanoke FireEMS.

RPD says two men detained in connection to Hanover Ave shooting

Police say an unidentified male suspect was allegedly found at the scene with a gun in his possession. He was taken into custody without incident.

The investigation remains ongoing. It is currently believed that the suspect and victim know each other and that a verbal altercation allegedly escalated into the shooting. Charges are pending.
