RSG Slate SG make the three-peat, win S5 of MPL Singapore

They also book a slot to the upcoming MSC 2023 taking place in Cambodia.

It was yet another familiar scene in the Singapore Mobile Legends scene, as RSG Slate SG once again picked up the title on Sunday (16 April).

In a surprising twist, RSG Slate SG's eternal rivals Bleed Esports failed to make it to the Season 5 grand final of the Mobile Legends Professional League Singapore (MPL SG) taking place at Suntec City Atrium (Tower 1&2).

After losing to RSG Slate SG in the Upper Bracket Final, Bleed Esports succumbed to Team Flash 3-1, which booked the underdogs a berth at the grand final in front of a packed audience.

Despite a shaky game 1 for RSG Slate SG, the team were able to rally to take the first game.

Led by grand final MVP, gold laner Fawzan "Okky" Herdiatna's aggressive moves proved the bane of Flash, who lost three games in a row before clawing back a win in game 4 with their unconventional picks.

That sadly did not give the Team Flash squad enough momentum to overcome RSG Slate SG, as game 5 was somewhat of a stomp.

The win for RSG Slate SG marks a third consecutive local championship, and the squad's imported Indonesian players have proven to be just what the esports organisation needs to continue its winning ways.

RSG Slate SG will take home a S$30,000 prize pool to be split with its huge squad (it has eight active members on its roster, as well as coaches), while Team Flash will have to console themselves with S$19,500. It is, however, Team Flash's best performance yet at MPL SG, as they were knocked out of S4 and had to play through the open qualifiers to get in. Their previous highest finish was third place at MPL SG S3.

With MSC 2023 taking place in Cambodia's Phnom Penh, RSG Slate SG will have to focus on making sure it doesn't bow out early again against international teams. The previous RSG squad only managed a 9-12th finish at M3, a 7th-8th position at MSC 2022, and a 13th-16th placing at M4.
