RSW's 2023 J.D. Power customer satisfaction score puts Fort Myers airport in elite company

High ratings for customer satisfaction can be challenging to attain, especially for airports where lately there have been a record number of passengers, pilot shortages and countless weather delays and cancellations.

At Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) the challenge has been met. The Fort Myers airport is being recognized again as one of the best airports for customer satisfaction, according to the 2023 J.D. Power North American Airport Satisfaction Study.

RSW, which celebrated its 40th anniversary in May, was ranked No. 2 overall in the medium airport category with a overall customer satisfaction index score of 839 (base on a1,000-point scale). This was one place higher than 2022. RSW tied for third with Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) last year (826 points).

Indianapolis International Airport (IND) took the No. 1 overall ranking for medium airports for the second consecutive year, scoring 843 points. Two other Florida medium airports were ranked − Palm Beach International (PBI) was No. 4 (828 points) and Jacksonville International (JAX) was No. 6 (821 points).

“Southwest Florida International Airport is very pleased to be recognized by J.D. Power in the 2023 North American Airport Satisfaction Study,” said Ben Siegel, CPA, C.M., executive director of the Lee County Port Authority. “Despite a difficult year for our region, we are happy that RSW has been successful in providing our guests with an airport experience that not only meets, but exceeds their expectations. Our team will continue working to make improvements and add enhanced amenities that will enable Southwest Florida International Airport to be a world-class leader in the travel industry.”

Southwest Florida International Airport served a record-breaking10.3 million passengers in 2022 and is one of the top 50 U.S. airports for passenger traffic.
