Jan. 25—The Regional Transportation District will host an in-person, open house next week concerning the Northwest Rail Peak Service Study.
The open house will occur at the Hampton Inn & Suites Boulder-North, 6333 Lookout Road from 5 to 7 p.m. on Jan. 31.
The Northwest Rail Peak Service Study will advance RTD's efforts to extend commuter rail service from Denver Union Station to Longmont during the morning and evening hours.
The study will also identify the costs of upgrading existing track, developing rail stations and operating peak period rail service to communities such as Arvada, Boulder, Broomfield, Longmont, Louisville and Westminster, according to a news release.
"We have faced challenges making the Northwest Rail a reality due to escalating costs and evolving train operation requirements and constraints," Patrick Stanley, RTD study manager, said in the news release.
"RTD remains committed to working with our regional partners to bring a rail solution to the northwest area."
Community members who are unable to attend next week's open house can access a self-guided online meeting at NorthwestRailPeakServiceStudyOnlineMeeting.com anytime between Jan. 31 and Feb. 21.
