Ruby Tuesday torn down to make way for new Zaxby's in Aiken

Jun. 14—The Ruby Tuesday restaurant on Aiken's Southside has been demolished.

By early Tuesday afternoon, only a pile of rubble remained at the location.

The address formerly was 2285 Whiskey Road, but it now is 2275 Whiskey Road, according to Aiken County land records.

Ruby Tuesday closed for good in March 2020.

A Zaxby's is scheduled to be constructed on the site.

The new restaurant will be approximately 3,000 square feet in size and have 56 seats, according to documents submitted to the City of Aiken.

There also will be a double drive-thru.

The applicant was Jeff Carter of Carter Engineering Consultants Inc. in Watkinsville, Georgia.

In August 2021, Aiken City Council approved a zoning change and a concept plan for the property.

County land records show that 2285 Whiskey Road LLC purchased the Ruby Tuesday site for $1 million in July 2020.

The Aiken Standard has reported previously that the existing Zaxby's at 1725 Whiskey Road eventually would be closed.
