The 2024 summer Olympics in Paris is a big talk for Philadelphia 76ers star big man Joel Embiid. The big fella, a native of Cameroon, has citizenship in both France and the USA and both teams want Embiid representing them when the Olympics roll around.

He obviously has a tough choice to make as he would instantly make either team the favorite to win the gold medal in the games, but if he were to join France, he would team up with Minnesota Timberwolves big man Rudy Gobert and the two of them would form a fearsome defensive duo. Then, one has to factor in Victor Wembanyama as well which would make France incredibly tough to stop.

Gobert sat down with The Athletic to discuss Embiid’s possible addition to Team France and had this to say about the trio:

“They can’t,” said Gobert, the 7-foot-2, three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year whose game is perfect for international rules. “But the international game is not about getting the best players on paper.

“If Joel’s heart is with us and he wants to do it for the right reasons, it would be an amazing opportunity for our team.”

It will be interesting to see what Embiid chooses when it comes to the Olympics. Whether he goes to Team USA or Team France, that team will be extremely tough to stop in the games.
