- Sonny Bill Williams limped off early as New Zealand were crushed 42-14 by the United States in the Cup quarter-final of the World Sevens Series at Twickenham. Williams, widely considered one of the great polyvalent rugby stars of his generation with a myriad of titles in union and league, was forced out of action after a heavy tackle early in the game in which he seemed to roll his ankle. In Williams' absence, US speedster Perry Baker scored four sensational tries to help the Americans into the semi-finals.
